We are pleased to provide the following details for the AOA SA/NT Branch events to be held on

Friday, 9 November 2018 at SPORTSMED∙SA, 32 Payneham Road, Stepney:

 

9:30am Trainee Rotations Workshop

The workshop will focus on:

  • Maximising learning experiences for trainees

  • Aligning expectations of supervisor and trainee

  • Developing a plan with the trainee for the rotation

  • Using observation and feedback

  • Documenting trainee progress

 

The workshop is suitable for any AOA member involved in training and will include practical strategies to guide trainees through the program, and aligning trainee experiences with the AOA revised curriculum.

5 CPD points.

 

 

11:00am WBA Workshop

This workshop is mandatory for any member involved in trainee supervision including those that have chosen the RACS FSSE pathway.

The workshop will focus on:

  • The rationale for workplace based assessment in the new assessment strategy

  • The importance of expert judgement

  • AOA 21 new workplace based assessment tools for trainee learning

  • Practice using workplace based assessment tools online and via the Trainee Feedback App.  

 

This workshop will give any member involved in training, including trainees, the opportunity to learn more about the principles of valid and reliable assessment and how the new tools will help inform assessment review meetings

4:00pm Ethics Workshop

This workshop will provide members with a background regarding the development of the AOA Ethical Framework and its purpose.  It is also the opportunity for members to give feedback on the proposed structure and content for the AOA Ethical Framework implementation.

 

Attendees are provided with context in addition to member feedback received regarding the need for AOA to focus on teaching ethical principles and behaviours.  Case studies are also provided to encourage group discussion and to also highlight the complexities of ethical decision making.
